Count me in

Start from Hong Kong; take the star ferry over to kowloon then cycle 106km to nansha district in Guangzhou. the second day is an easy 40 km cycle to the train station in centeral Guangzhou having looked at the Bright Filial piety temple and maybe the zoo or ocean world depending on group opinion in the morning. There we catch the train to maoming. there we sleep, eat, and relax soaking in chinease culture possibly snorkaling or skin diving on chicken island until we cycle on to dongtoushan island 110 km away. were we may find anything. Then the next 2 days are hard cycle towards Beihai (90 km a day) from there we catch the train onto Fangchenggang. we stay one day there almost are last in china. then we do 60km along the coast to mong cai on the border with vietnam. having crossed the border we cycle onto cam pha and the sight and sound between there and Hong Gai  (80 km). then onto central Ha Noi having done 95 km the next day, we stay here for two days looking at sights such as the co loa citadel and the hoa lo prison on the first day and have cheap taxi rides in rickshaws or having a taylored suit made. After the two day rest we go down too Hung Yen City and tp. Nam dinh were there are lots of other gems of culture as well as sam song beach. we stay here for a day and then start the incline to laos were are target destination is louangphabang and the marvelous sights surrounding the simmering city. once in louangbang we stay here for two more nights using it as a base to explore the local area by bike then on the morning of the 18th daywe head due south vientiane were we stay for another whole day. then on into thailand were we cross through a few moderatly sized towns such as undon tham, khon kaen, roi et finishing a heavy week of cycling in the border town of khanthaleouli. from there we return to vietnam to follow the tropical coast south through Quang tri war memorial, hue, the large city of Da Nang all the way to Ho Chi minh having passed through the tourist town of Nha Trang (for a reminder of western culture and home.) and Mui Ne for a little go at kite boarding and windsurfing. we cover this distance in approx 28 days with lots of rest days to enjoy the culture of vietnam ;but hard cycling when on the road. doing roughly 120km a day for the days we are cycling. we then cycle up into central cambodia through the capital Phnom Penh and onwards to Bangkok. The entire trip is approx 4250km roughly 170 hours of hard cycling at 22kph so realistically 28 days of 8 hours. and 20 resting and sight seeing days.

I was going to submit a similar tour from Hongkong to Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City but I admit yours is even more exciting. I do not understand the timing and the division of rest and riding days. The time from Jan. 5 to March 25 is about 79 days, subtracting 20 rest days leaves 60 riding days with an average of 70 km a day? I would prefer an average of 90 - 120 km a day resulting in 40 riding days and 20 rest days. I definitely like this tour.

ye that sounds good to me, i just couldn,t work out exactly how many days to make the tour as i thought it could be slightly flexible if a group wants to stay somewhere for an extra night or something. glad u like it! but yer i was thinking 100km a day would be a good distance.
