I have meet people who have done this self-supported. In reality that maybe the way to do this tour. It maybe more realistic to push a few bikes with full gear than a truck. I assume you intend to camp. I think that the distance estimate is overly optimistic. You have a hard time doing 90 avg on paved roads. I did LA-Boston and averaged 85mi/d and was worn out. I would believe 40 though South America and 75 in US and Canada.

Averaging 90 miles per day for nine months is a bit eager. I would suggest averaging 75 or so per day, which means some days in the mountains you do 45, on flat days you haul ass and do 120. Regardless, this trip will be sick, and needs to be done. Look forward to future posts and interest in the ride.

hello all! sorry for my neglect of this dreamtour but i'm currently backpacking around the world and my access to the internet has been sporadic at best. i was excited to see that the pan-american was mentioned in this months newsletter; i hope it will get more people interested in taking part. i appreciate the feedback from bikerbynature and hot_biker1951 and will incorporate these suggestions into the plan. any additional comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.

Phil, My name is Jason. I was in contact with a TDA staff member the other weeek and asked him if they might promote the PanAmHwy tour to genterate some more interest, which it appears it has! I was thinking it would be a gret idea to set up a facebook page for this ride so we could get to know the people who are genuinely intersted in this tour, as well as ideas to make it better, more managable and more fun. I am more than happy to do some heavy lifting on this end as far as route, lenght of ride days, rest days, breaking the tour up into sections to attract additional sectional riders etc. I can be contacted at jason@beefcakedesign.com
Keep in touch everyone!
Jason

I had been putting together something like this on my own; (but starting from Anchorage AK and finishing in Peru) then a friend suggested I look at this site and I found you guys!
Very keen to progress this if it gets sufficient opt-ins... Lemme know how I can help.

Do you like the start and end points or should they be changed? Thank you so much for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you all :)
