Ever dreamed of biking through foreign countries in places like Europe, Africa, Asia or South America? Or how about crossing an entire continent on a bicycle with a small group of like-minded individuals?

Transportation Alternatives is proud to offer a unique opportunity to all of our volunteers, members and supporters. In partnership with Tour d'Afrique, Ltd., we'd like to invite you to join other fellow New Yorkers in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world like never before.

Tour d'Afrique is a leading adventure cycling tour operator famous for its epic, trans-continental expeditions. In 2009/10, Tour d'Afrique is organizing 4 amazing cycling adventures and would like to invite New York cyclists to join them:

Tour d'Afrique Race/Expedition - the flagship tour that traverses through the African continent from Cairo to Cape Town, a distance of over 7,375 miles.
Orient Express Expedition - Explore the ‘new’ Europe on the old continent with the Orient Express Bicycle Tour. From the French vineyards, to the spas of Budapest, and the spices of Turkish bazaars, this is a continental tour like no other.
Silk Route Race/Expedition - Join a free-spirited group of cyclists as you cycle the ancient route of the silk trade across the entire continent of Asia; from Istanbul to Beijing.
Vuelta Sudamericana Race/Expedition - See South America unlike anything you've ever dreamed before. As part of this adventure, you and your companions will bike 8,000+ miles through eight countries; a journey that explores all the cultural and natural wonders of South America.

* Please note that that all of the expeditions/races offer shorter sections, starting at just 2 weeks. So, if you're interested in participating, but cannot commit to the entire journey, we have plenty of options available for you. Simply check out "The Route" link on each tour to see shorter options. *

It's a lot to choose from, so think about which tour appeals to you the most. As a Transportation Alternatives member or supporter, you will be eligible for a special discount up to 5% on any of our tours. More details will follow once you register to receive more information.

We will be hosting an informational meeting in Manhattan (date to be announced) where you'll be able to learn more about the upcoming expeditions/races, chat with Tour d'Afrique staff, and meet with other fellow adventurers who are also considering going on our trips.
